Home again

This evening I arrived home from my weekend in Montreal. My friend Evelyn and I drove up on Friday. We stayed in Drummondville. It seemed to take no time at all even though it was about 12 hours of driving.

Saturday was spent driving around Montreal including a couple of humorous runs down St. Catherines Street. The evening involved some well deserved beer drinking.

On Sunday we parked the car in a driveway at the reasonable charge of $10. It was a ten minute walk to the Metro (subway system) and then a one stop jaunt under the St. Lawrence River to Ile Notre-Dame.

The temperature on Sunday was 32c, humidex 37c and the track temp was 42c. Even after sitting under trees for most of the race I was almost consumed by heat exhaustion and had the chills.

Last night after the race we drove as far as Riviere du Loup, QC. This morning we departed and drove about 8 hours in what seemed like an unending drive.

I am sitting here exhausted, giddy with a cold beer in hand.

The trip was a great time but if I go again I will spend the extra money and sit in the stands with an ability to watch the race on the big screen. I actually had to phone home on my cell to ask my niece who had one the race. The cars whizzed by us at 300kmh and there was no way of knowing who was winning.

Good times once again!

PS: The race was won by Kimi Raikonnen of Finland.
